Our Impact by County in 2017-2018

United Way and its partners enrolled over 31,000 people in programs designed to:

· Connect people to the resources they need
· Prepare children for school and help them succeed
· Improve our community’s health
· Help individuals and families avoid or emerge from economic crises
· Help individuals and families secure or remain in housing
· Support seniors to live independently

2-1-1 Calls

United Way supports 2-1-1, a statewide information and referral line; 80% of 2-1-1 calls from Midlands residents are requests for food, shelter, rent and utility assistance.
 

Children Enrolled in School Readiness Programs

United Way supports programs that connect families to resources, increase home libraries and help prepare children for kindergarten.
 

Students Enrolled in Literacy and Youth Development Programs

United Way supports programs that engage students in reading, writing and learning both in and out of school.
 

People Who Received Medical, Dental or Eye Care

United Way directs and supports programs that provide free dental, eye and medical care to uninsured adults and children.
 

People Who Used Outreach, Shelter and Housing Support Services

United Way supports programs that provide shelter and other short-term housing, effective street outreach and case management, and long-term, affordable housing.
 

People Who Used Tax Preparation and Income-Building Services

United Way supports programs that provide employment training programs and employment barrier navigation, provide free tax preparation and maximize use of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
 

Seniors Enrolled in Meals and Other Supportive Programs

United Way supports programs such as meal delivery that maximize health of seniors in the community by decreasing isolation and related conditions that affect seniors’ health and well-being.
